In 1969 John started in his position as a conductor and then as general manager of the Hermann Park Train. Mayor Bill White honored John by proclaiming October 2, 2007, as "JOHN GLAZE DAY" for his dedication and service to the City of Houston, the Houston Parks and Recreation Department, and millions of riders, young and old, who have ridden the rails of the Houston Park Train to celebrate life and feel the freedom children enjoy in the park. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
