Mr. John E. "Jack" Givens' Obituary
John E. "Jack" Givens, age 79, passed away on January 16, 2011. Jack was born on March 4, 1931 to Wyatt and Annie Givens in Houston, Texas.
He graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1949 and spent four years in the U.S. Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Jack retired as a partner from Keith Plumbing and Heating Co. and was a member of Plumbers Local No. 68. He was a former Director among other positions of Arabia Shrine Temple. In addition, he was a member of American Legion Post 654 and was an avid bowler for many years. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lena; daughters, Sandra Stash, Sharon Little, Terrie Elkins and Vickie Gradick, son, Robert Givens; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son John E. "Buddy" Givens, Jr. He is also survived by his brother, Wyatt William Givens, Jr. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at South Park Funeral Home, Pearland, Texas. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel at South Park Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 with Rev. Jim Flagg officiating. Interment to follow under the auspices of the Gray Lodge # 329, A.F. & A.M. Grandsons will be serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriner's Hospital, 6977 Main St., Houston, TX 77030 or the charity of your choice.
