John Thomas Browne, Jr.'s Obituary
John Thomas Browne, Jr. passed away on June 17, 2021 and went home to be with his precious wife Linda Browne, parents John, Sr. and Lottie Browne and his sister and brother in law Barbara and Don Shane.
John T. Browne, Jr. known as Tom to his family and friends was born on November 14, 1941. He married Linda on April 17, 1971 and they celebrated 48 years of marriage together before she passed away on August 8, 2019. Tom graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in Houston, Texas in 1960 and as a believing Catholic attended St. Helen’s Church and Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ Catholic Church where he raised his children in the faith. He worked offshore in the oilfield for Dresser Atlas and then for Brazoria County until retirement.
Tom was a charming man who loved socializing with friends, family and even strangers. He could start a conversation with anyone and loved making people laugh. Known as Granddaddy to his grandchildren he loved to play games, watch movies and joke with them. Laughing with friends and family brought so much joy to his life and made him feel young again.
His favorite hobbies besides being a jokester, playing with his grandchildren were telling old stories about growing up, working offshore and boats. He lived life to his fullest teaching his kids how to enjoy each moment even with life not always being perfect. “Fathers are men who dare to place hope and teach his kids how to dream so they can spread their wings and soar.”
He is survived by his children Michelle Browne, Keith Browne and girlfriend Karen Stallings, and Mark and Christy Browne. Sister and Brother in Law Kathy and Mike Yeates. Grandchildren Amber, Ryan, Jeremy, Justin, Hannah and Ava. Nieces and Nephews Donna Shane, Caitlin Wilson, Shane Wilson, Paul and Heather Yeates, Megan and Damon Hopkins, Susan Martin and Wendy Montgomery, Andrew and Daniella Martin and Leontine and Ken Gooley.
