JoAnn Kahanek's Obituary
JoAnn Kahanek passed peacefully on November 18, 2024. She was born on November 14, 1942 in Yoakum, Texas to Hazel and Johnny Johnson. In 1960, JoAnn married the love of her life, Patrick Kahanek Sr. and they spent 49 happy years together.
Joann and Patrick Sr. founded the company International Tool in 1977 where they worked as co-owners for 27 years. They also owned a cattle ranch in Sweet Home, Texas and were members of the Black Brangus Breeder’s Association.
JoAnn was most passionate about being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved nothing better than family gatherings with three generations present. She was famous for her cornbread dressing, using a recipe handed down from her great grandmother.
Enjoying the thrill of the spin, she found great joy in trips to Louisiana for a turn at the slots bringing back stories of her big wins. She also enjoyed spending time with her beauty shop community at Image Makers salon in Pasadena. She was never seen without beautiful hair and perfect nails.
JoAnn is preceded in death by Patrick Sr. She is survived by her son Patrick Jr. and daughter Diana Young and her husband Ken, grandchildren Dustin Kahanek, Stephen Young and wife Amanda, Jaime Rocha and husband Lucas, Shelby Greengrass and husband Christian, Misty Prohler and husband Ryan, Savanah Wilson, great grandchildren Jordan, Levi, Kenny and McKenna, sister Sandra Henneke and husband Mark, nieces Shelly Mikes and husband Robert, Shandlyn Koehne and husband Steven, Stacy Liston and husband Scott and many wonderful friends and extended family.
