Joan Marie Pesek's Obituary
Joan Marie Pesek peacefully went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 1, 2023. She was born on October 21, 1935 to parents Albert James Pelata Sr. and Eula Annie Schubert in Pasadena, Texas.
She was preceeded in death by her Father, Albert James Peleta, Sr.; Mother, Eula Annie (Schubert) Pelata; Brother, Albert James Pelata, Jr; Brother, Johnny Albert Pelata, Sr.; Sister, Georgia Mae Genevia (Pelata) Benavides; and Brother, Edwin Earl Pelata.
Left to cherish her memory is her Daughter, Cathy Marie (Pesek) Nelson and husband John Alan Nelson; two Grandsons, Michael Christopher Nelson and wife Kristi Marie (Breitkreuz) Nelson, Jeffrey Alan Nelson and wife Tiffany Leeanne (Sweaney) Nelson; seven great grandchildren, Kenzie Michelle Nelson, Luke Christopher Nelson, Summer Grace Nelson, Madilyn Marie Nelson, Jaxon Despain, and Skylar Despain; and a host of friends and other family members.
Joan met the love of her life Sylvian William Pesek of 66 years on a blind date and were married before he went overseas to serve in the Korean War. She worked at Nasa, welcoming the new incoming astronauts and their wives to Houston. She would help show them the areas around NASA for them to live while in training for the Projects Gemini, Apollo and Mercury programs. Joan later started her own arts and crafts store where she taught and sold art supplies from painting to decoupage and ceramics. She was very creative and loved working with anything new in the art world. She later sold her business and became a full time Mom and homemaker. She kept busy with traveling, crafts and her love of her outdoor plants. She was involved with their church in helping to set up events or helping out in any way that she could.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 11:00 to 12:00 AM; the
funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon at SouthPark Funeral Home; with a graveside service to follow at 1:00pm at South Park Cemetery, 1310 N. Main St., Pearland, Texas 77581.
