Jesus Alfredo Ybarbo's Obituary
Jesus “Jesse” Alfredo Ybarbo, 79, of Pearland Texas, entered into eternal rest on January 2, 2023.
Jesse was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on August 22, 1943 to Maria Zepeda and John Ybarbo. However, he was adopted and raised by Jesus Ybarbo and Concepcion Cantu. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston, TX in 1962 and after attended community college earning an Associates Degree. Jesse went on to become a skilled sheet metal worker and joined the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 54. He worked as a sheet metal worker until his retirement in 2005.
Jesse was united in marriage to Marcella Ybarbo on July 8, 1975; they were married for 47 years and had one son, J. Thomas Anthony “Tony” Ybarbo. Marcella had two children when she married Jesse, Nelly Ybarbo-Rhoden and Jessica Ybarbo-Osburn, thus Jesse gained two bonus daughters, who he later adopted as his own.
Jesse and his former wife Estella Esparza had four children together: Jesse Ybarbo, James Ybarbo, Joseph Ybarbo, and Yvette Ybarbo-Perez.
Jesse enjoyed his Houston sports teams, a love that he passed on to all his children. Some of the highlights of his life was attending Game 5 of the 2017 World Series, Game 6 of the Houston Astros 2022 World Series win, and attending the Houston Texans game in Tennessee. His favorite past times included spending time with family and friends, sharing a cold beer, and reminiscing about the past. His “one-liners” and infamous quotes will certainly be missed. Jesse enjoyed barbecuing on the grill and listening to his favorite albums. Jesse was a great mechanic, handyman, and jack of all trades. In his younger years, he could often be found tinkering with a car or working on various projects around the house.
Jesse is survived by his wife Marcella Ybarbo; sons: Jesse Ybarbo (Georgia), James Ybarbo (Elvia), and J. Thomas Anthony “ Tony” Ybarbo (Tiffany); daughters Nelly Ybarbo-Rhoden (Alvin), Yvette Ybarbo-Perez (Jesse), and Jessica Ybarbo-Osburn (Aaron); 29 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, brother John Ojeda, cousin Raymond Morales, other relatives and many close friends.
Jesse is preceded in death by his parents Jesus Ybarbo and Concepcion Cantù, sister Paulina Ojeda, brothers Sam Ojeda and Pete Alvarez, cousin Mike Morales, and son Joseph Ybarbo.
