Ms. Jessica Leanna Robertsmoore's Obituary
The Life and Legacy of Jessica Leanna Robertsmoore
To say that Jessica’s birth was a blessed occasion is an understatement. From the very beginning, Jessica brought love and laughter to her family. As a child, Jessica was happy, personable, and compassionate. She literally gave the shoes off her feet after sharing her brand-new Jelly shoes with another young girl at school who said that she didn’t have nice shoes to wear. When she returned home wearing her old gym shoes instead of the new fashionable Jelly shoes her mother had just bought, she reminded her mother of what her mother had taught her about giving to others… and just like that, her generous nature was born and continued on throughout her inspiring life.
In addition to sharing with others, Jessica enjoyed singing, drawing, sewing, and had a great talent in math. After graduating from Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston, TX., Jessica deepened her desire and passion to help others and began her studies to become a Registered Nurse at Houston Community College. In the midst of working a full-time job and attending school, Jessica was given the greatest blessing in her life, at age 23, she became a mother to a beautiful little boy whom she named Jayden. Jayden, who is as friendly and personable as his mother, quickly became and remained the love of Jessica’s life. No matter how dark days would get ahead, Jayden’s amazing smile was always his mother’s light.
In August 2014, Jessica took ill and initially the cause was unknown. It was later told to her that she had a lung disease known as PAH (Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension). Over the next 3 years, Jessica underwent extensive and exhausting testing and treatments for this until it was discovered in the 4th year that she had been misdiagnosed and downgraded to one of the rarest Lung Diseases, about 1 in 2 million people are diagnosed with Pulmonary Veno-occlusive Disease (PVOD) which is incurable and has no known medications for treatment.
In December of last year, after tremendous and painful struggles and procedures, Jessica received a gift of a lung transplant that prolonged her life for an additional year before she ultimately was placed on Life Support and completed her work here on earth...receiving her complete healing. In the last phase of Jessica’s life, she could be found encouraging others in a support group of patients who had a similar diagnosis.
Her resolve and determination to live is truly unparalleled and a wonderful testament of her love for her son and her family. Jessica had a strong faith in God and when she was well enough to do so, she made sure that she worshipped in church with her son. Even though she was a single parent, she understood the importance and blessing of leaving a Godly heritage for her son. She was an excellent example to everyone she met.
