Jerry Elizabeth Butler Salyer's Obituary
Jerry Elizabeth Salyer, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, 83, of League City, Texas passed away peacefully Thursday, January 23, 2025, surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her three children, Julie Ann Doyal, Riley Edward Salyer, Cindie Lane Fawcett, and her brothers Gary Henson and Charles Butler Jr.
She is also survived by her grandchildren Kiersti Fawcett-Carranza (husband Luis Carranza), Britney Doyal, and Elliott Fawcett, as well as her great grandchildren Dominic, Vincent, Royce, and Callie.
Jerry was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to Charles and Virginia Butler on November 6, 1941. She attended Jonesboro High School and graduated in 1959. She went on to attend Arkansas Tech University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1963.
Jerry married Rodger Lane Salyer on March 7, 1964, in Little Rock, Arkansas. After residing in Florida and overseas, Jerry and Rodger moved to Texas in 1970 settling in Texas City.
Jerry worked as a social worker for the State of Texas for more than 25 years. Always passionate about helping others, she devoted her free time to serving on boards and working with charities as well as being an active member and steward of her beloved church.
Her enthusiasm for music influenced us all and her singing captivated our hearts.
A church service is scheduled for February 17, 2025, at 10 am (visitation) / 11 am (service) at First Christian Church – Disciples of Christ in Texas City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church – Disciples of Christ in Texas City.
