Jerry D Creager's Obituary
Jerry Dean Creager of Houston passed away peacefully at home on Sunday November 30, 2025, at the age of 83. He was born on September 15,1942 in Butler, Indiana to Kenneth Creager of Waterloo, Indiana and Irene Wade Carter of Hamilton, Indiana.
Jerry grew up in Butler. After graduation from Butler High School, Jerry served in The United States Air Force for 4 years, stationed in Alaska for most of it. After an honorable discharge, he built a house and raised his family in Waterloo, Indiana. There he began a long career in construction. Jerry moved to Houston in 1983 and was a Superintendent for Raus Construction until he retired.
Jerry met his wife, Wanda, at a dance in 1983 and they married on October 1,1988. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Wanda Bastian Creager. Brothers Bill and Lori Creager of Hamilton, Indiana and Roger and Kathy Creager of Linton, Indiana. Stepbrothers John and Jean Dunn, Jim and Melinda(deceased) Dunn, Frank and Maxine Dunn and stepsister Carroll Ann Spurr all of Waterloo, Indiana. Children Kimberly Scott, Douglas and Ginger Horn, Karmen Horn Genzer and Jay and Miriah Horn. Grandchildren: Christopher and Cassie Scott, Trevor and Rachel Scott-Evans, Nicholas and Alyssa Scott-Evans, Ethan and Jacque Horn, Jacob and Becca Horn, Samantha and Taylor Buikema, Rob Mullins, Clayton and Chelsea Horn, and Ryanne Horn. He was also a proud great-grandfather of 9: Peyton, Declan, Emma, Chevy, River, Ember, Willow, Madison, Corbin, and a little girl expected in June.
Jerry will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his unwavering devotion to his wife and the love he had for his family and friends. He was happiest when he was working out in his workshop, caring for his animals, mowing the lawn or pretty much anything he could do or build with his hands. In recent months, he found great peace just sitting on the porch, holding Wanda’s hand and watching the horses.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Rosie Creager, and Irene and Jack Carter, as well as his oldest brother Richard and Dixie Creager of Kentucky.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 10th at South Park Funeral Home 1310 N. Main St., Pearland, TX 77581. Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm. Service at 1pm with burial to follow.
