Janette Allen's Obituary
Janette Ann Turney Allen, devoted wife and mother, passed away at Methodist Hospital on December 16 surrounded by her immediate family. Janette was a native Houstonian, coming from a founding family of the Texas Republic. She grew up in the Pecan Park area of Houston and graduated from Milby High School. She attended Baylor University and the University of Houston, graduating with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education.
Janette went on to teach for many years in the Pasadena Independent School District as an elementary teacher and vice principle. She had a particular fondness for teaching second grade students.
After retiring from teaching, she flourished in the field of Real Estate. She progressed to the level of a Real Estate Broker. Additionally, Janette taught courses for the Texas Real Estate Commission concentrating on Business Ethics.
Janette was an extraordinary woman who always carried herself with grace and treated everyone with kindness and respect. She was also quite charming, winning over the toughest of personalities. Doctors and medical staff would go out of their way to talk and care for her even until her final day at Methodist Hospital. She was a great lover of animals, particularly dogs. Through her dogs and participation in dog shows, she made many more friends who will miss her greatly.
Janette is survived by her son, Gary; her daughter-in law, Sherry; granddaughters Lauren, Leslie and Sheryl; grandsons A.J. and Aldo; and great-granddaughters, Avery and Shannon; and great-grandson, Jacob. She is also survived by her sister-in-law; Colita, nieces; Lisa, Linda, and Kathy; nephews, Barry, Alan, and Randy; and numerous cousins.
Janette is preceded in death by her husbands, Gary Inman, Sr., and Richard Allen; parents, Loyd and Lillie May Turney, her sister, Doris, her brother, Loyd, and her nephew, George.
Services will be held at South Park Funeral Home. A memorial service on Thursday, December 21 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. She will be interred by the family directly following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any local “no kill” animal rescue or charity of your choice.
