James Fletcher White
November 3, 1933 – September 24, 2024
James White, 90, a life long resident of Houston, TX and recently of Payson, UT, passed away on September 24, 2024. He was born to Paul Hampton White and Jessie Imogene White and grew up in Houston with one sister, Winona and was also very close to cousins Dorris and Carolyn Chittendon. Jim served in the US Navy 1951-1955 during the Korean War making numerous trips to Japan on the USS Pictor AF-54. He worked as a railroad engineer with the Port Terminal Railroad in Houston from 1955-1997. He enjoyed traveling all over the United States and made trips to Europe. Family members have fond memories of going to the horse races with Jim; win or lose, he always had something funny to say and kept a smile on his face. He was an avid square dancer in his senior years and kept in shape at the YMCA. He treasured time spent with loved ones and close friends. Jim was soft spoken and a true gentleman. His happy, baby blue eyes and big smile will always be remembered.
Jim is survived by 6 nieces and nephews, Connie Wilson, Mary McQuinn, Richard Harrigan, Jr., Jim Harrigan (namesake), Paul Harrigan, Susan Graybill. He is survived by his dear cousin Carolyn Lilie, several cousins, and many great-nieces and nephews.
