Mr. James Robert "J.R." Stevens' Obituary
James Robert Stevens, 84, passed away on Wednesday, October 6th in Houston, TX. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Joycelyn Stevens; daughter, Ann Harper and husband Mike; son, J. R. Stevens, Jr. and wife Billie; grandchildren, Kim Unger and husband Fred, Tysh Black and husband Tony, Julie Smith and husband Spencer, Jeff Harper and wife Trisha, Robyn Kovarik and husband Eddy, Jaime Robertson and husband Mark; fourteen great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends." J. R." as he was known by his friends, was a dedicated employee of Southern Pacific Railroad with 45 years of service. He received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Navy on April 10, 1946 after serving in WW II. He was a member of Shadycrest Baptist Church, and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 8th from 6-9 PM at SouthPark Funeral Home in Pearland, TX. Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 9th at 12:30 PM at SouthPark. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery.
