James Carl Matteson's Obituary
James Carl Matteson went to meet his Lord Jesus on October 09, 2019 at his home in La Porte, Texas surrounded by family. He was born on July 2, 1956 in Omaha, Nebraska to parents, Alona and Erdley Matteson. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 29 years, Sheila Ann (Horn) Matteson; three sisters, Joyce (Matteson) Teters, Janet (Matteson) Lasater; Judy (Matteson) Watson; two brothers, Jeff Matteson, John Matteson; as well as numerous friends and other family members. James was preceded in death by his parents, Erdley Stone Matteson and Alona Lydia (Klug) Matteson.
Jim loved life, people, and Jesus his Lord. He loved to talk and share his adventurous stories, most were side-splitting funny. Jim loved to golf, hunt, fish, play tennis, boating on the bayou, ride his Harley or 4-wheeler, play ping-pong, or anything outdoors. He was intelligent in a special way, he could do anything he set out to do. Jim was loving, caring, generous, creative and outgoing. He never met a stranger and he helped anyone that needed him. He was well read and knowledgeable about history and present times. He was a wholesome man of integrity and conservative values. He was stubborn and opinionated and not afraid to stand up for his values. He wanted to do the right thing and sought perfection in all he did. He was sent from God to be the Most EXTRAORDINARY HUSBAND for Sheila.
A 29 year long battle with a rare disease called CADASIL finally took him home. In leiu of flowers, donations can be made to www.CADASILfoundation.org
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, October 13, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at SouthPark Funeral Home, 1310 N. Main St., Pearland, Texas 77581; a funeral service on Monday, October 14, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Elim Church on 3200 S. Richey, Houston, Texas 77017 with a burial to follow at SouthPark Cemetery.
