Mr. James Edward Boyles' Obituary
James Edward Boyles, 85, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend went peacefully to meet the Lord on Monday, June 8, 2015. As a native Houstonian, he was born on August 15, 1929 to Hazel Viola and Lester Tucker Boyles. He attended Lamar High School, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from A&M University on May 30, 1952. As a professional engineer, he taught classes for the fifteen professional hours required for engineers to renew their licenses in the State of Texas and assisted in gaining permits for new construction buildings between Architects and the City of Houston. As consulting engineer and project manager provided civil engineering and construction capability to the Air Force, NASA and the Federal Office of Housing and Urban Development. Also, he was a dedicated Conference Chairman for the American Institute of Industrial Engineers for four outstanding years and brought much success to the international conferences. Served as Lt. Colonel/USAF for twenty-eight years and retired June 28, 1980. Received the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service from January 1972 to September 1973. He was proud to be a team member of the 446th ‘ and the 924th ‘ Flying Squadron/Ellington AFB-Houston. The mission of the wing is to provide citizen warriors and maintain equipment to meet America's global airlift requirements. The First Line – Air Defense in the Northeast 1951-1960 by Bill Green is a first-hand view of Jim’s experience and contributions to the 57th Fighter Interceptor Squadron lining the northern perimeter of the United States. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Hazel Viola and Lester Tucker Boyles and his brother, Rene Whipple Boyles and cousins, Fred Sutton Latham and Jesse Boyles. He is survived by his loving wife, Andrea Boyles and his cherished children, William Edward Boyles (Rhonda) and Johnna Jane McDaniel (Clint) and grandchildren, Ashley Ann Boyles and Krista Michele Boyles. The family gratefully thanks Dr. Richard Pohill with Memorial Clinical Associates, Dr. Andrew Selzman, Dr. Mahmood Moradi, Dr. Gurjyot Kaur Doshi, and their staffs at the Memorial Hermann - Memorial City Hospital as well as the nurses for their care and vigilance during Jim’s illness. We are also grateful for the tender loving care provided by the CIMA Hospice Home Care; particularly, Jonathan, Toni, Nikki, Lisa, Edna, Wynita and Diana for their expertise and diligent care. The family received friends on Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 3:00pm until 5:00pm at SouthPark Funeral Home. The funeral service was held on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 10:00am in the Chapel of SouthPark Funeral Home, 1310 North Main St. in Pearland with Pastor Daniel Irving, officiating.
