Jamar Emond Evans' Obituary
Jamar Emond Evans was born to the parents of Ernest Evans and Linda Arceneaux on June 26, 1990 in Houston, TX. On December 24, 2023, he went on to be with the Lord and his younger brother “Erno” (who passed away on 4/1/2020).
Jamar was the oldest brother of five children within the Evans clan. His two younger brothers were Ernest II and Ezekiel (21). He had two younger sisters: Faith (29) and Emerald (27). His step mother, Sonya Evans, was also a vital part of his life. On his mother’s side, he had an older brother, Omari Miller (46). There is a slew of aunts and uncles on both sides of his families that love him dearly. He has one living grandparent, Laura Arceneaux (95) who resides in Houston.
While growing up, he spent a lot of time playing soccer and was passionate about playing baseball. As a child, Jamar participated on YMCA baseball teams and progressed to higher competitive leagues. Additionally, he spent many hours being active in water and served as a lifeguard for a number of years in high school. Besides sports, he spent an inordinate amount of time doing team-building projects, fishing and camping, which allowed him to become an Eagle Scout.
Jamar was a very opinionated and strong-willed young man; his experiences seemed to reflect more time on Earth than his 33 year lifespan. He had a love of the outdoors and was always a curious kid. He consistently had a knack for knowing how things worked. As far as making friends, he had an innate ability to connect individuals and groups, from all walks of life and cultures, by being a charismatic and transparent person. Friends and family know him as someone who enjoyed making others laugh with silly jokes.
He attended Green Valley Elementary and Cunningham Middle School in Northshore ISD. He went on to complete his high school education at Smiley HS, in North Forest ISD, in 2008. He continued his pursuit of education for the next four years at Houston Community College, Texas College and Prairie View A&M. While searching for a career passion, he worked a mired of jobs such as being an electrician, plumbing installer for new apartments, a salesman for various retail businesses, etc.
While reflecting on his life, we would be greatly remissed to overlook his greatest accomplishment which was his role as an amazing father to three kids and dogs. He shared this role of parenting with their mom Nefertia Gilmore. He leaves behind three beloved children: Amber (5), Jeremiah (6) and Rashad (8). He was also a cherished uncle to Brielle (10), Khaza (8) and Khamonni (4).
Jamar’s legacy will live on through his three kids and the countless lives he has touched.
