Mr. Jacob K. Samuel's Obituary
Our dearest daddy, Jacob K. Samuel, arrived into this world as the youngest of the family to his elated parents V.P. Samuel and Mariamma Samuel on November 16, 1955 in Ranny, Kerala. He cherished a colorful and playful childhood at the banks of river Pampa with his siblings, Thomas Samuel, Punnoose Samuel, and Kunjamma Zacharia. He journeyed through the years of childhood and flourished into a bright young man when he completed his schooling at St. Thomas High School and went on to further receive his Engineering Diploma.
His transformation to young adulthood resembled the 80's movie stars wearing long collared snug shirts with bell bottom pants. His smile to our amusement while going through those pictures was precious. The journey of life took him first to Mumbai, Muscat, and then to UAE. On December 23rd 1978, he found the love of his life, Mercy Jacob, daughter of Kunjukunju Kadavil and Mary from the Kadavil family in Vechuchira, Kerala. It was a beginning of an era, an era of love, adventure, trust, contentment, support and care for each other. In the highs and lows of life, they stood hand in hand with Christ as the center of their being. In the garden of their love, two flowers blossomed, Lincy and Shancy. It was his dream and vision to well educate his children that he considered it his greatest achievement. His beloved wife and children were the center of his universe, travelling and spending countless hours with them. In 1996, he migrated to Houston, USA with his beloved family.
During his lifetime, he was involved in the church and community. His love for God, led him to become the founder and director of Cross Vision Ministries and also the director of New Covenant gospel church in India. He gave much importance to his faith making no compromises and went to any lengths to stay strong for the principles he believed in.
He was blessed with a son, Dr. Manu Chacko, when Lincy was wedded. More than words can describe, their relationship was that of a father and son. Manu was a source of joy to him on many levels. He was further blessed with his first grandchild, Milaniya, the apple of his eye. He was blessed with another son, Lijo Kuriala, when Shancy and him were married. Yet again, he loved Lijo as his own and Lijo in return loved him. He sought daddy's guidance and approval as a younger son.
Daddy's entire life was structured around God and serving Him. He constantly instructed his family on the importance of a true Christian family life and loving God. On October 27, 2015, unforeseen to us, God decided to pluck this most beautiful flower from His garden. We are always reminded of how all the worries and struggles in life were easily managed due to his constant leadership, love, strength and faith. We will miss him greatly, however, we move forward hopeful to see him again in the heavenly realm.
"For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better." Philippians 1:21-23
