Jack Olen Cherry's Obituary
Jack O. Cherry passed away on April 1, 2023 at the age of 91.
Jack was born July 27, 1931 in Dallas County, TX and later lived in Galena Park, TX where he graduated from Galena Park High School. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Army to serve our country and received an honorable discharge. Following his active duty service on the Korean peninsula, he later served in the Air Force Reserve from 1954-1960. In 1962, he began his 34-year career as a Houston Fire Fighter.
Jack lived a life of faith and was a devoted Christian. He leaves behind his wife of 72 years, Dorothy; his children Darryl B. Cherry and wife Angela, Alicia M. Vasquez and husband Will; grandchildren Elyssa Cherry-Shive and husband Cecil, Dylan Cherry, Alison Smith, Leslie Smith and husband Frank, with one great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Claude R. Cherry and Elizabeth Kiser Cherry; brothers Ernest Cherry and Roger Cherry; sister Catherine Irwin.
Family and friends are invited to join us at South Park Funeral Home, 1310 N. Main Street, Pearland, Texas on Thursday, April 6, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 PM (visitation) and Friday, April 7, 2023, at 11:00 AM (service). Interment will follow the service at South Park Cemetery.
