Mr. Jack Banowski's Obituary
Jack B. Banowsky of Pearland, Texas passed away Friday, January 21, 2011 at his home where he lived with his wife, Hazel. He was born in Casper, Wyoming, November 26, 1929, to A. B. and Verda Banowsky, but shortly thereafter, his family moved to Texas. Jack spent his high school years in Hollywood, California, but returned to Texas to attend Texas A&M, where he rose to the rank of company commander. He met the love of his life, Hazel, on a blind date and they were married shortly after he graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the Air Force and resided in Pasadena, Texas with Hazel, where he raised three children and was an active member and leader in Shaw St. and then Burke Rd church. Jack and Hazel later moved to Country Place where he was an active leader in the community and actor/director for the Country Place Players. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school for many years. Jack's dedication to God, his family, work and others made him the kind of man everyone loved and admired. He will be greatly missed. He was survived by his wife Hazel, his children, and their spouses: Carol Banowsky-Smith and Dan Smith; Jack and Carol Banowsky; and, Bill and Laura Banowsky; and two sisters, Joyce Fogo and Doris Arrington. His younger brother, James (Mike) Banowsky passed away November, 2009. He had six grand children and four great grand children. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.ALZ.org in tribute to his wife Hazel.
