Mrs. Isabel M. Fernandez's Obituary
Isabel Marie Fernandez, 89, entered into rest on Wednesday June 13, 2018 in Pearland, TX. She was a member of St. Helen's Catholic Church and a resident of Pearland for 72 years. She is preceded in death by her sons, Adam Fernandez and Margarito "Mac" Fernandez. Isabel is survived by a loving family including 2 sisters Janie Cruz and Vera Martinez, her husband M. T. Fernandez, their 5 children and their families. Eva Fernandez and her son Jose Alvarez; Rita Michalak, her husband Frank Michalak and their daughters Theresa Alvarez and Tracy Laney; Rosie Plemons, her husband RQ Plemons and their children Burke Plemons, Jesse Plemons and Christie Blalock; Patsy Saenz, her husband Tom Saenz, Jr. and their children Tonia Yeager, Keith Yaeger, Tom Saenz III, Aaron Saenz and Joshua Saenz; Anthony Fernandez, his fiancé Michelle Jasso and his son Jacob Fernandez; and the children of her late son Margarito "Mac" Fernandez, Margarito "Lil" Fernandez Jr., Denise Harris, Michael Fernandez and Daisy Fernandez.
Isabel Gonzales was born in Glen Flora, Texas to Manuel and Matiana Gonzales on May 25, 1929. Isabel grew up in El Campo and was one of 11 children. On June 28, 1947, she married Margarito Tamayo Fernandez. They were about to celebrate 71 years of marriage later this month. Isabel spent her life working in the home raising her 7 children. She had 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren who called her Mimi. She was always surrounded by a large family and many friends. Her home was the main meeting place for her immediate and extended family, always hosting holidays, Easter Egg hunts and weekend BBQ’s. Isabel had a great sense of humor and her laugh was contagious. She was a great cook and loved to sew. She was famous for her delicious tortillas and menudo. Isabel loved birds and had a collection of live peacocks, parrots, parakeets, cockatoos and other exotic birds. Isabel will be remembered as a mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to many.
