Irene Duenes' Obituary
Irene Duenes Galvan passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at her home in Pearland, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Napoleon Galvan and Rita Aguirre; her loving husband of 73 years, Herminio Duenez Zamora; her daughter Hermelinda Duenes Galvan; her son’s Jesus Duenes and Daniel Duenes; and her grandson Salomon Duenez, Jr.
She is survived by her children Irene Rodriguez (Spouse Guadalupe Rodriguez); Hortencia Coello (Spouse Fernando Humberto Coello); Maria del Carmen Salinas (Spouse Carlos Cesar Salinas); Rita Bueno Duenes (Spouse Leobardo Bueno Cepeda); Jose Daniel Duenez (Spouse Maria Guadalupe Duenez); Ezequiel Duenez (Spouse Delia Duenez); Sara Montes (Spouse Manuel Montes); Salomon Duenez (Spouse Rosita Duenez); Herminio Galvan Duenes (Spouse Dinorah Duenes); and Ruth Villarreal (Spouse Everardo Villarreal); a total of 32 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren.
Irene was born in Linares, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on July 3, 1926. She married the love of her life, Herminio, on October 28, 1944, in Linares, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She immigrated to the United States in 1980 and resided in Pearland, TX for the last 16 years of her life. Irene was a devoted catholic, a loving mother to her children, and an affectionate grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an amazing cook and made delicious meals and traditional Mexican candies from scratch. She would make her small children rag dolls for them to play with and enjoyed sharing stories of her childhood with her children and grandchildren. She loved hosting her entire family during the holidays, she tended to her garden daily, and always remembered her children’s birthdays. She was spoiled and pampered by her children and grandchildren regularly. They made sure she had her daily cup of McDonald’s coffee and Coca-Cola, they would take her shopping and on car rides, they inundated her with birthday gifts every year and made sure her garden was always in full bloom. She was loved deeply and will be missed tremendously.
