Mrs. Irene Carmichael's Obituary
Mrs. Irene Carmichael, 87, of Houston, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, November 10, surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Irene actively supported her husband, Mike, throughout his distinguished military career, serving as a member of the Officer's Wives Club and an Air Force Family Services Organization volunteer. The family moved to Houston in 1964 where Irene began a 25-year career in Inpatient Accounting at The Methodist Hospital. She is preceded in death by husband, Major W. W. 'Mike' Carmichael and her parents, Mae and Johnny Fusselman of Mathis.
She is survived by children, John Carmichael, M.D., and wife, Helen, of Corpus Christi; and Kay Belnap of Pearland; granddaughters, Kerri Halfant, M.D., and husband, Tom Hochstein, of Austin, Jennie Golden and husband, Michael, of Springfield, VA, and Kirsten Story of San Antonio; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Evan and Alex Hochstein, Naomi and Sophia Golden, and Ryan and Keaton Story. She also is survived by sisters, Alene Poindexter and husband, Ralph, of Richardson, Margaret Whipple and husband, Whip, of Mathis, and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Visitation hours are Friday night from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at SouthPark Funeral Home. Chapel Services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007 at the South Park Funeral Home, 1310 N. Main in Pearland with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Vitas Hospice or to the charity of their choice.
