Mr. Ira David Gilmore's Obituary
Ira David Gilmore
A native Texan, David was born November 18, 1934 in Houston.
A devoted educator throughout his entire life, upon graduating from Sam Houston State Teachers College he served as the head of the Boys Physical Education Department and teacher of trigonometry and geometry at Lutheran High School in Houston. Coach Gilmore later went on to teach algebra and other disciplines of mathematics at Pearland High School as he continued coaching boys’ sports. His commitment to education was further evidenced by years of lay teaching in the Pearland United Methodist Church.
In the early 1970s he successfully transitioned to owning and managing a Sinclair retail operation in south east Houston. When Atlantic Richfield acquired Sinclair and withdrew support for retail operations in Texas David again moved to a career counseling small business owners in tax and accounting matters for over thirty years with E.K.
