Ms. Ida Mae Washington's Obituary
Ms. Ida Mae Washington was born on August 18, 1940 to Hattie L. Wilson Nash and Mark Washington, in Carthage, Texas. Ida went to be with the Lord on, Monday, August 19, 2019 at 1:00 am at Houston Hospice.
Ida attended Galveston public schools and completed her studies from Lincoln High School in LaMarque, Texas. She continued her education receiving her LVN license from UTMB, Galveston in 1962, she received her Associate Applied Science degree in nursing from San Jacinto College, Pasadena, Texas in 1997, Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs/Health Administration from Texas Southern University, Houston, Texas in 1988 and she received her Master’s in Health Education from Texas Southern University, Houston, Texas in 1990. Ida was a certified CPR Instructor and received numerous of certificates in Continue Education health programs. Ida’s decided to specialize in Gerontological Nursing.
Ida resided in Galveston, Texas for over 30 years and was employed at what was at that time as John Sealy Hospital in OB GYN Department. She also worked with the Texas Department of Correction in Fort Bend County and later retired from Harris Health System.
Ida was a faithful member of Abundant Life Cathedral, in Houston, Texas for many years.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Hattie L. Wilson Nash and her father, Mark Washington.
She leaves to cherish her memory two children Abdullah Abdul-Malik (Michael) and Davalynn A. Johnson-Bann (Cliff), her siblings, Mike K. Davis, Jr., Pamela M. Nash Francis, Natalyn D. Nash Marshall and Julia A. Nash, eight grandchildren, two aunts, Helen Johns Perkins(Vern) and Bobbie Wilson, six nieces, five nephews, great nieces and great nephews, a host of cousins and a special friend, Hazel Haddock and Trina Knight.
