Horace Luzon (Wheeler) Beauchamp's Obituary
Horace Luzon (Wheeler) Beauchamp was born in Houston, Texas on October 3, 1933. Luzon was a graduate of A&M Consolidated High School, class of 1951. After High School he joined the Army, did his tour and later attended U of H College. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend, who passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024, with his loved ones by his side.
Luzon was married 63 years to his loving wife, Rebecca “Becky” Beauchamp. Luzon lived a long and adventurous life. He had so many wonderful stories from his youth, and loved telling us about them, including his trail rides with his horse Tater Pie; and getting lost trying to find his girlfriend’s house, who lived in the Aldine area of Houston, Texas, which was the “sticks’ back then. He of course, would end up marrying her, have three children, Cynthia, Karen, and Andrew, along with new adventures.
Luzon began working for IBM in the early 1960s in their data processing center in Houston and advanced his way up to System Programmer supporting the Gemini and Apollo missions for the Nasa Program in Clear Lake, Texas. He worked for IBM until he retired.
He loved games and sports, a good game of chess, bowling, golf, football, basketball, and baseball. He coached little league softball and baseball and loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s games. He also enjoyed duck hunting and fishing. He and his wife, Becky, would go out for hours in Galveston Bay in their John boat and fish all day long and come home with a large cooler of fish. We had a few fish fries to say the least. He had many dear friends whom he loved to socialize and enjoy debates with on many topics. Upon retiring, Luzon and his wife, Becky, were able to enjoy more time traveling together with family and friends. He really enjoyed his ski trips.
Luzon is preceded in death by his wife, Becky Beauchamp, his parents Dorothy and Walter Beauchamp, his father Horace L. Wheeler, grandson Christopher Love, granddaughter Christine Boriack, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald Brewer and wife Jo Ann.
Luzon is survived by his children, Cynthia Bailey, Karen Boriack and husband David, and Andrew Beauchamp; his grandchildren, Jason Bailey and wife Brei, Travis Bailey and wife Jennifer; Holly Minor and husband John; and Audrey Boriack; his sisters, Marciel Kelly and Patricia Clayton and husband Larry; his great grandchildren Wyatt, Isabel, Kylee, Blake, and Cole; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Luzon will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him, but he is now with his wife and will always be in our hearts. The family would like to thank everyone who played a role in making his life so special.
