Mr. Herald Willie Lina's Obituary
Herald Willie Lina of Pasadena, Texas passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the age of 93 in Lake Jackson, Texas. He was surrounded by his children and some of his grand & great-grand children.
Herald was born on Monday, October 19, 1925 on his Grandparents’ farm in Coryell, Texas to Charles Christian and Josephine Marie Lina. Herald grew up in Coryell, Texas on the family farm. He loved gardening, fishing, camping, painting, playing his guitar, violin, and piano keyboard. He was a carpenter and an inventor of many “gadgets”. He graduated from Gatesville High school in May, 1942. He enlisted in the Naval Air Corp. at the age of 17 and while there attended Pre-flight training at Millsaps College, MS. He obtained his Bachelor of Business from the University of Texas, Austin in May, 1949.
Herald met the love of his life, Jean Lina, while working at Kress’ Department Store in Austin, Texas. Their first date was December 31, 1949. They married September 3, 1950, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and have enjoyed a full life together and with their 8 children. They were members of St. Augustine Catholic Church for 57 years where he served as lector.
He is survived by his children Ron Lina (Edwige), Barbara Bonar (Paul), Tom Lina (Caren), Charles Lina (Ellen), Mary Hobbs (Dale), Catherine Suttie (Mike), and Elizabeth Turner (Craig). He was also blessed with 18 grandchildren; 21 Great Grandchildren; and 2 Great, Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Jean Lina, his parents, his daughter Theresa Rose Lina, his brothers Gerald Lina and JC Lina.
Daddy said “I just hope you KIDS will remember life as you grew up under your parents and times that was shared. Life is a complicated process and you must above all put your trust in GOD. You were all Baptized and Confirmed as GODS’s Children.”
