Heng Eam Ear's Obituary
Heng Eam Ear, born on October 15, 1948, ascended to heaven on August 2, 2024. Heng and her beloved husband, Saing Hy Taing, shared over 50 beautiful years together. They were each other's first and only loves, truly soulmates from the start. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, marked by deep affection, mutual respect, and unwavering support. Together, they navigated life’s many joys and challenges, always finding strength in their bond. She is survived by her loving husband, their four children: Eng, Ly, Pheng, and Imly, and her nine cherished grandchildren: Billy, Juliann, Jimmy, Taylor, Matthew, Andrew, Allyonna, Melanie, and Olivia.
Heng was born in Cambodia to Chinese parents. She endured the horrors of the Khmer Rouge and survived physical injuries from the civil war. With immense courage and determination, she and her husband immigrated to the United States, seeking a better life for their family despite not knowing a word of English. Heng faced significant challenges, including a major stroke at 40 that left her partially paralyzed and later blindness in one eye, yet she persevered without complaint. She continued to face life with unwavering courage and grace.
A talented seamstress, Heng made clothes for her family and later co-owned a restaurant with her husband before relocating to Houston, Texas, where she lived for the past 31 years. Heng's greatest joy was her family. She adored her grandchildren, always ready to spoil them with special treats and gifts. Her generosity knew no bounds, as she often shopped more for her loved ones than for herself.
Heng had a passion for gardening, enjoyed walks in the park, and loved to people-watch from her window and porch. She was a night owl, staying up late to watch her favorite Chinese dramas and wrestling. Heng was an avid fan of Wheel of Fortune, watching it religiously every night. Her love for quilts was evident in her extensive collection.
Despite her long illness, Heng's spirit remained unbroken. She was an intelligent, brave, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Heng's presence brought so much love, joy, and warmth to her family, and she will be dearly missed. Her legacy of love, resilience, and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her.
