Gene Kornegay
Harold Gene Kornegay, born to Robert Arnold and Bessie Myrtle Kornegay on March 8th. 1934 in Milam County Texas, finished his earthly race on December 16th 2023 at 11:45 am. He married Zola Mae Stevens on September 4th. 1954. They enjoyed 59 years together before she passed in 2013.
He was accepted into the Department of Public Safety academy in November 1964. He served as State Trooper and License and Weights until he retired in November 1994. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant. During his life he served in many capacities. He was a Scout Master, he was active in Baptist Church Builders of Texas, he served as a deacon and elder at First Baptist Church Snyder. He was an avid fisherman and caught and cooked thousands of pounds of fish for family friends and various groups. He loved working in the pecan orchard. He met Patty Kachel, at the Senior Center. They served together with Meals on Wheels. He was drawn to her love for the Lord and her knowledge of the scriptures. They married in her home on August 27th. 2015. Patty cared for him constantly until he took his last breath in her arms.
He was a loving husband to both Zola and Patty and accomplished many things.
Harold provided so much to the family and served as a wonderful example of a Christian man to all.
Harold is proceeded in death by Zola Kornegay, Martha Moore, Charles Kornegay, Cecil Kornegay, Arnold Kornegay.
Harold is survived by his wife , Patty Kornegay, a sister Gladys Keith, sons Kenny Kornegay, Bob Kornegay and wife Georgette, daughter Vickie Kornegay, Grandson, Josh Kornegay, Granddaughters Kristina Kornegay, Serena Brandon. Five Great grandchildren, Ephraim Kornegay, Eisley Kornegay, Makenzie Hegedus, Alexis Hegedus, and Harlin Bridges, four step-granddaughters and ten step-great grandchildren.
Open casket service Gause Baptist Church, Gause, Texas December 30th at 1pm. Grave side service following at Gause cemetery.
