Mrs. Guadalupe A. Valdivia's Obituary
Guadalupe A. Valdivia, 83, affectionately known as Lupe or Lupita, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, October 19, at her home in Houston, Texas. She was born in Gonzales, Texas, on December 12, 1928 to Vicente Arredondo and Luisa Zuniga Arredondo. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Annie Reyes and Becky Mott. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Daniel, and her five children and their spouses. Virginia and Manuel Rodriguez, Daniel Valdivia and Craig Miller, Bea and Gino Pagliuso, Robert and Shannon Valdivia, and Michael and Jhym Haynie-Valdivia. She also leaves behind her sister, Jane De La Cruz and her beloved 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The matriarch of a large, loving family, she was an active member of Mt. Carmel parish for over 40 years, teaching CCE to children for 25 of those years. Lupe also enjoyed a successful career with Home Interiors, earning numerous sales prizes and achieving Princess status with her talent for decorating. In retirement, she enjoyed Church activities, Bible study, and visiting with family and friends. Her greatest joy was spoiling her grandchildren, particularly at Christmas. The family would like thank the Homecare unit of Houston Hospice. Special thanks to Lupe's personal caregivers, Maria Betancourt for 12 years of outstanding care, along with Feliz B. and Nickii C. for the last two years. The visitation is from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, October 23, with Rosary recited at 7 pm at SouthPark Funeral Home, 1310 North Main Street, Pearland, TX 77581. The funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 24, at 11 am, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 6723 Reed Rd, Houston, TX 77087. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery.
