Gracy Easo's Obituary
Mrs. Gracy “Vavamma” Easo, daughter of the late P.C. Daniel and Mary Daniel was born on May 24, 1941 in Paratharayil Njakanal, Kerala. She was the second eldest daughter after the late Rachel Daniel, followed by her two brothers Daniel Chacko and Daniel John. In her early teens, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ, was baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit. She enrolled at JJ Hospital in Mumbai for nursing school where Gracy suffered a life-threatening case of typhoid fever but was miraculously healed. She went on to graduate and entered the professional field of nursing.
Gracy was united in holy matrimony to Thomas Easo on April 10, 1969. This 53 year union was blessed with two daughters, Sissy Easo- Joseph and Tessy Windle. Gracy treasured her time in India but in 1970, she was afforded the opportunity to come to Galveston, Texas via a student exchange nursing program along with friends who became some of her lifelong companions. Enduring many obstacles along the way, she was among a powerful group that became known as the Pioneers to the Malayalee Community here in Texas. Through their encouragement and support, many friends and families moved to Houston, where she was employed as a nurse for 30+ years, including 28 years at St. Joseph Hospital.
Gracy experienced the full goodness of God throughout her life. In the last two years, she has seen the hand of God guide her through many health struggles. Her faith was made stronger by the continuous miracles in which God has blessed her life. From granting her the desire to have children to recovering from major health issues, saving her life from 3 major accidents, restoring her life after two major heart attacks, Gracy has held on relentlessly to the promises of God. Despite losing her ability to see, she kept her eyes focused on God which strengthened her faith.
Gracy lived an extraordinary life of devotion and service to God and others. She loved to read her bible, pray for and with others, spend time with family, laugh, and always wear a smile on her face. As one of the first matriarchs in her church and community, she was a pillar of strength who offered advice, counsel, prayers and provided many home-cooked meals as a way to share God’s abundance. She was known as a generous, compassionate individual who had a simple yet profound way of helping others and making them feel like family.
Her beautiful life and memories will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband, Thomas Easo and her daughters, Sissy and Tessy; son-in-laws Phillip Joseph and Errol Windle; her 5 grandchildren, Isabella Joseph, Daniel Joseph, Gabriel Windle, Abigail Windle and Victoria Windle. She is also survived by her two siblings, their spouses and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
