Grace Abraham's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Grace Abraham, a beloved
wife, mother, sister, grandmother and devout Christian woman. Born on April 15, 1944
to KP Philip and Aleyamma Philip of Kelayil House, Pandanad in Chengannur, Kerala,
India. She was affectionately known as Kachi.
Kachi grew up in a large household with 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Her elementary
schooling was at the Mundankavu Primary School. She completed high school at the
Chengannur Girls High School. She attended MG College in Trivandrum, completing a
BA in Economics. On May 25, 1970 she married EA Abraham at the Christos Mar
Thoma Church in Niranam, Kerala. She was blessed with one son, Joju Abraham on
January 31, 1972.
In July of 1977 she emigrated to the United States to New York to build a better life for
her family. In October of 1979, her husband and son moved from India to settle in the
US. In 1981 the Abraham family moved to Houston. Kachi worked at the US Postal
Service as a Postal Clerk for 30 years. She was a woman of deep Christian faith. It was
her unwavering belief in God that carried her through life’s challenges. She was a
lifelong member of the Trinity Mar Thoma Church.
After retiring she enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
She loved watching The Young and the Restless, Wheel of Fortune and doing
crossword puzzles.
Kachi passed away at home peacefully in Sugar Land on Monday, October 21, 2024.
Her husband (EA Abraham) preceded her to Heaven on July 4, 2022. Kachi is survived
by her son Joju; daughter-in-law Jaya; 3 precious grandchildren — Nidhi, Sejal, and
Dhilan; her sisters Kunjamma Verghese, Lilly Simon, and sister-in-law Ruby
Joseph.
