Mr. Gilbert "Sonny" Ramirez's Obituary
Gilbert “Sonny” Ramirez, 70, gained his Heavenly wings on July 16, 2018. Gilbert was born on July 6, 1948 in San Antonio, TX to Gilbert Flores Ramirez and Delia Barrera. He is survived by his loving former wife of 32 years Frances Ramirez, his adored children, Yvonne Ramirez, Gerardo and Kristy Guzman, and Cindy Ortiz. His adored grandkids, Carlos and Ashley Lopez, Amber Barbosa, Raven Jacobs, Kalyn Trujillo, Brandon Guzman, and Ryan Saucedo. His adored great-grandkids, Jordan, Jeremiah, and Aryanna Lopez, Isaiah and Alynna Valdivia, and Adelyn Murillo. Gilbert is also survived by his sisters Maria Louisa Rodriguez, Juanita Georges, Gina Delafuentes, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Gilbert is preceded in going to eternal life by his parents Gilbert and Delia, grandmother Maria Marin, sister and brother in law Minerva and Fred Garcia, and nephew Leroy Rodriguez.
Gilbert retired as an electrical engineer after serving 32 years with CenterPoint Energy. He was a devoted father, husband, popo, and great-popo. He had a joy for life and most of all for God. Gilbert enjoyed hunting, fishing, trail-riding, coaching his daughter’s soccer and softball teams, but most of all spending time with his family and friends. He had a passion for education and volunteered many hours raising money for the Houston and Pasadena Livestock Show and Rodeo. He also loved his Texans and Astros!
Dad/Popo will be eternally loved and is in the Hands of Our Lord and Savior. You were always there for us and we know that you will continue to be with us in soul and spirit.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 19, 2018 at SouthPark Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a rosary starting at 7:00pm. Mass will be held Friday, July 20, 2018 at 11:00am at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church 11011 Hall Rd. Houston, TX 77089. Burial will follow at SouthPark Cemetery 1310 N. Main St. Pearland, TX 77581.
