GeralDean Lucas' Obituary
GeralDean Lucas, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2021 at the age of 90 years old. She was born in Catahoula, Louisiana to parents Floyd and Dollie Proffer on March 5, 1931.
She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother known as Nanny, sister and friend. GeralDean was a doting “Nanny” to her family and was always willing to help anyone in any way she could.
After graduating high school GeralDean went on to become a mother and hard worker for the Pasadena Independent School District as a janitor for many years. She enjoyed spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals for her family. She devoted her life to taking care of her special needs grandson Dave, and making sure everyone else always had everything they needed. Even in her later years she enjoyed doing her own yard work because no one else could ever quite meet her expectations. Nanny was known by many in the neighborhood. She would sit on her porch and wave at everyone that passed while enjoying a cup of coffee. Nanny was truly the matriarch of her family. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
GeralDean was preceded in death by parents Floyd and Dollie Proffer, daughters: Cathy Jones, Shirley Tollett and Patricia Merchant, son in law Charles Merchant, and granddaughter LauraLee Correa.
She is survived by brother Truman Proffer and wife Betty Proffer, sons Jimmie Lucas and Larry Lucas, grandchildren David Brightwell, Stacey Cortes and husband Juan Cortes, Jason Jones, Misti Payne and husband Bradley Payne, Christie Tollett, Adam Lucas, and Tabatha Hayes and husband Matthew Hayes, great grandchildren Rudy Montez and wife Roxanne Montez, Crystal Fagnana, Gage Correa, Gavin Correa, Laila Correa, Leslie Correa, Stacia Perales, Cayden Payne, Tristan Hayes, Charles Payne and Teagan Hayes, 8 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
