Mr. Gerald Franklin Brown's Obituary
Gerald F. Brown entered the loving arms of our Lord on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at the age of 80. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years,Tokiko Brown. He is survived by his siblings Ronald Brown and his wife Helen, Connie Schuff and her husband Richard, Faye Strickler and her husband Robert; three children JB Brown, Bobby Brown, and Debbie Weaver and her husband Steve; six grandchildren Justin, Spencer, Sidney, Lauren Brown and Jared and Blake Weaver; one great grand daughter Skylar. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and graduated with honors from the University of Houston in 1974. He joined the Houston Police Department on November 9, 1970 and retired on March 12, 1994. As a member of the faculty of San Jacinto Community College, he taught electronics and computer technology. Teaching was one of his many passions. He was also an avid outdoors-man. He enjoyed fishing and camping and his children grew up on the water. One of his favorite pastimes was supporting baseball and softball. His passion for this spanned many generations. He coached his kids, was a huge fan of the Pearland High School softball team and cheered on his grandchildren. Everyone that knew him knew of his love for golf. He would start a round with a stranger, but would end up friends by the 18th hole. He especially enjoyed playing alongside his sons. At age 75, he competed in the Sr. Olympics of Golf. His grandchildren were his greatest treasure. He loved having family dinners, Disney vacations, and supporting their activities. He was a kind man that was loved by all that knew him. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at South Park Funeral Home, 1310 North Main Street, Pearland, Texas 77581 and a funeral service on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Second Baptist Church, South Campus, 12008 Shadow Creek Parkway, Pearland, Texas 77584. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
