Gerald Lynn Brooks' Obituary
Our community sadly lost a pillar on Thursday, 18 February 2021 when Gerald Lynn Brooks, favorably known as Jerry or more so as Papa passed away. Jerry was born in Chattanooga, TN on 30 December 1952 to the late Vernon and Dixie Brooks.
Jerry is a Vietnam War Veteran and honorably served his country 6 years in the Air Force as a ground refueler, or a “Fuel Jockey” as he would say. Jerry currently worked at Texas Chiropractic College as a maintenance technician. Jerry volunteered his maintenance knowledge with his community by fixing just about anything for anyone, especially his church helping out whenever he could. He most enjoyed sharing that knowledge with his children and grandchildren when he wasn’t busy caring for an animal (domestic or wild).
Survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Debra Sue Wilson Brooks. Daughters Beth Birmingham (Brian), Tamyra Renee Dye (Robby), Tiffany Sue Garcia (Tony); sons Lowell Travis Bowen (Dena), John Alan Brooks and Gerald Lynn Brooks II (Belle). Brothers Fred Brooks and Rick “Griz” Brooks (Glenda) and sister Margaret Brooks. In addition to an unquantifiable number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.
Preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Donna and Tony Brookshire and sister-in Law Cheryl Brooks.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked to make donations to the maintenance fund at South Ave Baptist Church at 605 Preston Rd. Pasadena, TX 77503.
Visitation will held from 1:00-2:00pm and service will begin at 2:00pm at South Ave Baptist Church on Thursday, 25 Feb 2021. If you cannot attend in person, please join us live on Church’s FaceBook page.
