George Mathew's Obituary
A Life of Love, Faith & Service
George Mathew, lovingly known as Georgekuttychayan, was a devoted servant of God, a
cherished family man, and a source of inspiration to all who knew him. On December 10, 2025, at
the age of 72, he was called home to eternal glory, leaving behind a life rich in faith, love, and
service.
Born in Kottayam, Kerala, George was the youngest of four children to the late Puthenparampil
Chandy Mathai and Chechamma Mathai. His spiritual journey began early under the guidance of
Pastor P. M. Philip, when he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, a decision that shaped
every step of his life.
George earned a Bachelor’s degree in economics and began his career as an accountant in
Abudhabi. On October 18, 1979, he married Thankamma (Jolly) George from Marottimootil
family and together they were blessed with two children who became his pride and joy. After
years abroad, he returned to India and, alongside his beloved wife, built Lords Catering, a
business they successfully managed for 35 years.
His life was marked by tireless ministry and mentorship. He was an active member of IPC
Philadelphia Church in Kottayam and served in various leadership roles. He also served in PYPA,
Sunday School ministry, editor for Good News Weekly, Salem Tract Society, and notably as
President of CGPF for many years. He was one of the pioneers in ICPF ministries in Kerala,
raising a powerful young generation for Christ who are now being used mightily by God across
the world.
After retiring from his profession, George pursued theology and dedicated himself fully to God’s
work. He authored a book chronicling the miracles he experienced, and his passion for sharing
Christ never waned. In April 2025, he moved to the United States to be with his children and
became a member of IPC Hebron Houston. Even amid physical challenges, his life remained a
living testimony of faith, hope, and love.
George is survived by his devoted wife Jolly, his children Geejo Mathew George (Wife: Blessy) and
Giji Chinnamma George (Husband: Biju), and his treasured grandchildren Jeremiah, Josiah,
Esther, Lydia, and Deborah. He also leaves behind his sister Gracy Ancheril (Husband: Cherian).
His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, especially singing to baby Deborah
and teaching her Bible verses.
Though his absence leaves an immense void, his prayers, guidance, and loving presence will
forever remain in the hearts of his family and all who knew him. They hold firmly to the blessed
hope of their Christian faith, comforted by the promise that he has entered his rest, received his
heavenly inheritance, and that they will meet him again on the glorious shore in the presence of
their Savior.
“As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to
receive your allotted inheritance” (Daniel 12:13).
