Mathew, George Puthenveetil's Obituary
Our beloved father George P. Mathew passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025 at the age of 77. George was born on September 28, 1947, in Anjalithanam, Kerala, India, the fourth son among nine siblings.
After earning a diploma as a HVAC technician, he began his career at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in Bombay, where he worked for seven years. In 1975, he moved to the United Arab Emirates after being recruited by a HVAC company in Sharjah.
In October 1977, George married Aleyamma Thomas, from Keezhuvaipoor, Kerala, India, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives together in Dubai. It was during his time in Dubai that he made a profound spiritual commitment, accepting Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and took water baptism.
In 1997, George and his family migrated to the United States, settling in Chicago, where they became active members of the International Christian Assembly of God (ICAG) under the leadership of Pastor George Stephenson. He later relocated to New York to work as a train cabin inspector for the New York Transit Authority. While in New York, he pursued his passion for theological studies, earning a Master’s in Divinity from Jameson School of Theology after five years of dedicated study.
In 2021, he moved to Houston to be closer to his daughters and became an active member of IPC Hebron Houston. His passion for serving others led him to participate in community outreach events, particularly in the food distribution initiatives in church.
A man of creativity and ingenuity, George had an exceptional talent for designing innovative solutions for household challenges. His artistic and mechanical skills were evident throughout his home, reflecting his resourcefulness. He was deeply passionate about his beliefs, whether in matters of faith, politics, or in any subject he engaged with.
He leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, devotion to family, and a profound love for his Heavenly Father. He is survived by his loving wife, Aleyamma George; his daughters, Leena Mathew, Lenu William, and Liza George; his sons-in-laws, Winjoy Mathew and Robin William; and his cherished grandchildren, Aaron Mathew, Grace William, and Jeremiah William.
The homegoing service will be held at IPC Hebron, 4660 S Sam Houston Parkway E, Houston, TX 77048, Saturday, March 15th 2025 at 9:00 AM.
