George Fredrick Lewins' Obituary
George F. Lewins claimed his heavenly crown on August 20, 2010, surrounded by his loving family at their home in Seabrook, Texas. His unwavering belief in eternal life with our Heavenly Father was an incredible testament to faith in action. The second in a set of identical twins, George was born on December 24, 1950 in Halifax, England to Rosemarie and George F. Lewins, Sr. George, his brother Tommy, and sister Nancy Lorraine Jones accompanied Rose and stepfather Clark Dean Stillion as they settled in Riverside, California in 1955. He and the family subsequently moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1959 and to Houston in 1961. In 1972, George moved to Imperial Beach, California where he met and married the love of his life, Kitty Schulte. The couple soon relocated to Houston. A man of many skills, George served as executive chef at Clear Lake-area restaurants Jimmy Walker's and Louie's on the lake, garnering accolades for his prize-winning gumbo. In 1985, George joined Sysco Food Services in Houston as a marketing executive. Sysco recognized his exceptional marketing performance, dedication, service and professionalism with its Torch Bearer's award in 1999 and 2002. George was a gifted raconteur and man of integrity and principle who generously shared his blessings and life lessons. He participated in his children's lives and the lives of numerous other children as a baseball coach, a fishing buddy and a shade-tree mechanic. While sharing in these activities, George also taught the children to respect one another. Under his watchful eye, young men learned how to treat women and children with courtesy and dignity. In return, George was loved and cherished by an entire community of friends. George is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Kitty Lewins of Seabrook; sons Jason Billings of San Diego, California and George F. Lewins, III of Seabrook; daughter Stephanie Jude Hinson of Seabrook; grandsons Colton Shane Hinson and Kadence Trent Lewins of Seabrook; father George F. Lewins, Sr. of Hornsea, England; sister Karen Wilkinson and husband John of Hull, England; Sister Nancy Lorraine Jones and husband Ron Rumpza of Houston; brother Clark Dean Stillion, Jr. of Houston, sister Angela Daigle of Dayton; and a very large extended loving family and numerous friends.
