George William Carpenter Sr.
George William Carpenter Sr., was born on December 8, 1945 in Amity PA. He was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 19, 2015 at the age of 69. George was a 1963 graduate of Trinity High School and attended Drafting School in Washington, Pennsylvania. He later moved away with his growing family and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. He spent his adult years loving his family, working as a draftsman, and ministering in Pennsylvania, New York, and Texas. In 1981 he began working for SIP engineering where he worked in the oil industry. Since that time he worked as a pipeline engineer all over the globe including an extended stays in Aruba and Equatorial Guinea. He has worked diligently to promote the cause of good will to others through the One World Foundation of which he served as president. He loved to travel to Haiti where he visited and assisted in the placement of fresh water wells for the orphans. He served as the treasurer for the 288 Corridor Rotary Club and was recently named as the 2015 Rotarian of the Year. He also served as membership chairman of the Country Place Men’s Golf Association and on the board of the Pearl Theatre in Pearland. George was a loving man who enjoyed spending time with his family, entertaining friends, and helping others. He also enjoyed many hobbies and activities such as golfing, skydiving, roller coasters, water slides, karaoke, and amateur acting. George is preceded in death by his daughter, Annette Garrett, parents, Blair and Alice Carpenter, Brother, Jim Carpenter, and Nephew, William Carpenter.He is survived by his Children, Amy Thac and husband, Darrell; April Peterson and husband, Chris; and George Carpenter Jr. and wife, Cathy. His grandchildren; Lynette Garrett-Pruitt and husband, Grant; Kelsie Carpenter, Nathan Peterson, Darrell Ryan Thac, Katelynn Carpenter, Matthew Carpenter, Haley Peterson, Bethany Thac, and great-grandson Garrett Pruitt all of which live in the greater Houston Area. George is also survived by, his Sisters, Ellenor Grabiak, Carol Johnston, sister-in-law Donna Carpenter all from Washington Pennsylvania, and several Nieces and Nephews. The Family has requested that in lieu of flowers, monetary donations be made in honor of George Carpenter Sr. to the charity of your choice or one of his favorites listed here. oneworldfoundation.net , American Diabetes Association American Heart Association or Wounded Warriors.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 from 5-8 pm at SouthPark Funeral Home in Pearland. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 11:00 at the Reflection Bay Event Center in Pearland.
