Geneva Harrison's Obituary
Geneva Gillie Harrison, 81 years old of Sugar Land, Texas passed away on December 28, 2022 at 8:40 pm in a 10 year battle with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. The wake will be held on January 12, 2023 from 5-8 pm. Funeral Services with burial immediately following are to be held at the South Park Funeral Home in Pearland, Texas on January 13, 2023 at 2:00pm.
Geneva was preceded in death by her Father, Mr. JD LeRoy Gillie; also by her Mother Mrs. Angie Bernstein Gillie. Geneva is survived by her Ex-Husband of 34 years, Mr. Franklin D. Harrison, Sr., 4 children, Andrea M. Harrison, Francine D. Harrison, LyFreda M. LeDay, and Franklin D. Harrison Jr. and wife, Cortesia R. Harrison, 3 grandchildren, Paris V. Brookins, Tyree D. Leopold, Devin R. LeDay, 3 great grandchildren, and a vast host of cherished family and friends. Geneva was born the only child of her parents on December 13, 1941 in Bermuda, Louisiana. She started her walk with God at a very young age, where at birth, she became a life-time member of St. Matthew Baptist Church, of Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana. Geneva started her career and nursing journey at the tender age of 18. After receiving her degree, she worked at various hospitals and clinics. She later retired with Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Oakland California, after 20+ years of service. She loved her family, her work, and shared her loving, caring, and often-times witty and funny spirit with everyone she crossed paths with. Geneva was known to adopt all of her children’s friends, and all of her friend’s children. If you came into her home, you were automatically considered family. She was always a true friend, close ally and confidant, and an all-around nurturing person to a slew of friends, family, and perfect strangers. She could travel to faraway places where one would think she knew absolutely no one and always be recognized by someone she shared her caring spirit with along the way. The family of Geneva Gillie Harrison wishes to thank everyone for their kind thoughts, prayers, flowers, and heartfelt cards. Her family would like to quote Geneva’s own words; “Never say Goodbye, always say I’ll see you later”. We will “see you later” on the other side of Glory. Mom, we Love you and will miss you forever.
