Mr. Gary Dean Thornley's Obituary
Gary Thornley, 66, a resident of Alvin, Texas passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2008 after a long battle with cancer. Gary was born May 30, 1942 in Anthlers, Oklahoma to Leo and Mattie Thornley. The family moved to Texas in 1943. Gary graduated from Andrews High School in 1960. He started working for Fish Engineering and Construction in 1965 building refineries and chemical plants; he worked in their Houston office and moved to Alvin in 1975. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing and his homing pigeons. Gary joined a local pigeon flying club in 1987 and became president of the Texas Center Racing Pigeon Union in July 2000 till July 2007. Gary was married to Linda for 39 years and to their union was two children Kimberley of Caldwell, Texas and Scottie of Alvin, Texas. Two children from a previous marriage Jeff of Odessa, Texas and Cindy of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Ashley, Jo Lynn and Jensey; brothers, Johnny of Livingston, Texas , Roy of Charleston, South Carolina and Leo of Henderson, Texas.
