Gail Blake Jackson passed away peacefully on August 11, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Gail was born in Huntsville, Alabama on November 3, 1960, the youngest of four children. She moved with her family to Houston, Texas when she was 1 year old so her engineer father could join the newly formed NASA. She attended South Houston High School where she was a member of the school choir as well as the tennis team. She also sang and played keyboards in her brother Cliff’s rock band, further showcasing her love for music. After graduating high school in 1979, she attended the University of Houston and the University of Texas in Austin. Gail was a dedicated Payroll Specialist at UHCL for 21 years until her well-deserved retirement in 2019. In 1993 Gail welcomed her daughter, Savannah, who is her greatest accomplishment and most beloved treasure. Savannah brought her endless joy and was a source of great pride. Gail loved all animals and cared for many stray dogs, cats and other animals during her lifetime. She also enjoyed reading books, gardening, watching classic movies on TV, and finding treasures at antique stores and flea markets. She will be remembered for her devotion to her daughter Savannah, her support and encouragement of her family, her love of and tenderness toward all animals, and her lifelong friendships. She was a cherished soul who touched the lives of many, and she is deeply missed by her family and friends. Gail was preceded in death by her father and mother, Clifford and Josephine Jackson, her brother-in-law Sidney Davis, and her aunts and uncles Betty and Bill Jackson and Jeanne and Walter Bessent.
