Froylan Castillo's Obituary
On Thursday, March 18, 2021, Froylan Castillo Marcos, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 69. Froylan was born on March 15, 1952 in Oaxaca, Mexico to Martin Castillo and Guadalupe Marcos. On August 14, 1973 Froylan married Rebeca Salas Arriaga with whom he raised four daughters; Laura, Erika, Sandy and Rebeca. Yearning for better job opportunities to support his growing family, Froylan made the difficult decision to immigrate to the United States in the early 1980s without his family. For nearly four years, Froylan worked tirelessly in New York City to provide for his wife and daughters who remained in Mexico. Froylan’s dream to reunite with his family came true in 1990, when he was able to bring his wife and by then teenage daughters to settle into the United States. In 2003, Froylan and his family moved to Houston, TX and called this city home for 18 years.
For 16 years, Froylan served the Houston Independent School District as a custodian. All who knew him remember Froylan as a compassionate, hardworking and optimistic man. Froylan had a passion for gardening, loved spending time outdoors with his five dogs, and enjoying a cup of coffee every morning. Froylan will be remembered for his infectious smile and friendly, giving nature. He was truly a friend to all.
Froylan is survived by his wife Rebeca, his four daughters, and his four granddaughters; Gabriela, Elvira, Cindy and Fernanda. A vigil will be held for Mr. Castillo on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at South Park Funeral Home in Pearland, TX from 5-7 PM. A funeral mass will take place on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. He will be laid for eternal rest at 12:00 PM at South Park Cemetery after the funeral mass.
