Mr Fred J Kmiecik's Obituary
Fred J Kmiecik was born August 8, 1929 in New Waverly, TX. He was baptized into the Catholic faith and attended St. Joseph's grade school in Walker County. When his father Frank P. Kmiecik and his mother Mary Gregory Kmiecik moved to Houston during WWII, Fred attended Stonewall Jackson Jr. High. Fred then graduated with honors from St. Thomas High School in 1946. Fred was a Manager with the A.C. Horn Paint Company from 1945 through 1957. Fred proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 in Hersfeld, Germany. Fred was a proud member of the "Circle C" Constabulary & The 7th Army, "7 Steps to Hell", 14 ACR, Armored Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Battalion, Tank Company. Fred could and did disassemble and reassemble every piece of Army equipment issued to include the M-4 Sherman, M-26 Pershing and the M-46 Patton main battle tanks After separation from the Army, Fred attended South Texas Junior College in 1954. Fred joined Texas Petrochemical, Co in 1957 and retired after working as an operator and machinist for forty years in 1997. Fred was a 1978 Graduate of the Texas A&M Fire Fighter Academy. Fred was a also a 40 year member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in Houston. Fred was a 30 year dues paying member of the OCAW, Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers Union Local 227. Fred was also a very proud VFW member. Fred is survived by his wife of 57 years, Fonzie Lorraine Kmiecik; sons, Stanley Thomas Kmiecik and David Paul Kmiecik; grand daughters, Emily, Riley, Caroline, Taylor and Tyler Kmiecik and daughters-in-law, Wendy and Tammy.
