Franklin Jerald Leney's Obituary
Franklin Jerald Leney, 82, of Houston, Texas, passed away on February 7, 2024 surrounded in love by his family. Frank was born on August 24,1941 in Refugio, Texas and is preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Janes Leney and his parents, Franklin Jewell Leney and Vona Irene Moss Leney. Survivors include his two sons, Franklin J. Leney IV (Dana), Kyle Moss Leney (Casey) and grandchildren, Cade and Luke Leney. Frank attended Refugio High School where he was an accomplished athlete competing in several sports earning “Most Athletic” recognition for the Class of 1959. Following graduation, Frank served two years in the U. S. Army with the 8 th Infantry Division Airborne in Wiesbaden, Germany. He attended Texas A&M University before embarking on a career that would span over thirty years in the medical field. Throughout his professional career, Frank spent much of his time in the Houston Medical Center as co-owner of a medical diagnostic laboratory and later within a corporate setting. An avid waterfowl hunter, Frank spent a great deal of time hunting throughout Texas with family and friends. If it was a weekend during the fall, you would have likely found Frank in a duck blind telling stories and laughing in anticipation
of the morning flight. His passion and personality for hunting forged numerous friendships he cherished throughout his life. Along with outdoor activities, he enjoyed watching the Houston Astros, Texas A&M football and keeping up with his beloved Refugio Bobcats. Throughout his life Frank’s greatest asset was his personality. Gracious and unassuming, he was thoughtful and always offered a compliment or a kind word for friends and strangers alike. You would be unlikely to find a more easygoing, well-balanced individual, always displaying patience and consideration. His dry, quick-witted sense of humor always came at the most unexpected moments. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will truly be missed for just being Frank. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the First Methodist Church in Alvin, Texas. Visitation begins at 10 AM and the service is at 11 AM with graveside services immediately
