Frank Darrell Ratka's Obituary
Frank Ratka, a beloved father, grandfather, and esteemed District Fire Chief, passed away on March 6, 2023. He was 70 years old.
Frank is survived by his three children; Kimberly and husband John Armentrout, Frank Ratka Jr. and wife Kelli, Carrie and husband James Kidd. Brother, John Ratka and wife Gaye; sister, Teresa Van Cleave. Grandchildern Jake Ratka and wife Celia, Cody Cutright, Thomas Ratka, Tyler Williams, Pryce Ratka, Kennedy Kidd, Reagan Kidd, Madison Kidd. Great granddaughter, Lillian.
Frank was born on March 10, 1952, in Houston, Texas. He served as a firefighter for over 30 years, dedicating his life to protecting and serving his community. His leadership qualities and dedication to duty earned him the respect and admiration of his peers. Frank served as a District Fire Chief until his retirement in 2004.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Frank was a devoted family man. He was married to his wife Donna, and their beautiful life of 52 years was blessed with three wonderful children, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Frank loved to travel and often spoke about one of his favorite trips through Montana. He was an avid fisherman who loved to be on the water with his family and friends.
Frank was a respected member of the community, known for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed it, whether it was a neighbor, a friend, or a stranger in need. Frank was a loving man with a servant's heart, a steady hand, and a giving soul. His life was filled with love and joy.
Frank will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His legacy as a dedicated firefighter and a devoted family man will live on in the memories of those who knew him.
Visitation will be on March 14, 2023, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at South Park Funeral home, 1310 N. Main St., Pearland, TX 77581.
A Mass of Christian Burial to honor Frank's life and legacy will be held at Saint John the Baptist Church, located at 110 E. South Street, Alvin, TX 77511, on March 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.,
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Charity in Frank's name.
