Francisca, also known as Frances or Panning, grew up in Pangasinan, Philippines and graduated in 1951 with Bachelor of Science in Nursing in Siliman University, Dumaguete, Philippines. She was one of the pioneer graduates of the said university. After getting her nursing degree she started working as a surgical nurse at a hospital where she met her future husband who was injured at that time. They moved to southern Bicol where she worked as a Public Health Nurse.
She served the community as a nurse, educator and trainer in the Philippines until 1974 when she came to New Jersey to work as a nurse. She worked tirelessly and always have time to attend church services on Sundays. She helped several people by offering her house in New Jersey as their transient place to stay, specially nurses who just came from the Philippines looking for a place. While here in the US, she continued to support her extended family in the Philippines. Francisca and Jose did some travel before her retirement then moved to be with her daughter Lea in Pearland after her husband passed away. She was the “mother” to her grandsons, a friend/mother/lola to her church member where she was active. She was a traveler. She traveled to the Philippines once every year, to New Jersey back and forth all by herself. She did several trips with her family that she enjoyed so much.
