Frances Elizabeth Arnold's Obituary
Frances Elizabeth Arnold passed away on January 13, 2020 in her home in Pearland, Texas. She was born on March 12, 1937 in Wilson, Kansas to parents, Frank and Mary Mattas.
Frances graduated from Marymount College in 1958. She practiced nursing for 39 years, the last 34 years was at Memorial Herman Hospital Southeast in Houston. She was a member of NAON for many years. She was active in The Friends of Old Southeast group. She was an inspiration to many women and she loved to bake goodies for her ladies group in Alvin. She loved to read, travel, and grow flowers, especially bluebonnets. She was an excellent cook, baker, and jelly/jam maker. Frances lived life to the fullest, she was an inspiration to everyone who met her. If you ever needed to know stats about the Astros, she was the one you asked. The Astros were her team! She was also the neighborhood nurse. Everyone sought her wealth of knowledge. Frances'absence will be truly missed within all of her many group involvements. We know Frances is already busy in heaven given medical advice or just life advice to all she meets.
Left to cherish her memory is her two daughters, Cindy Clarke and husband Marc, Laurie Hollinger and husband Jeff; son, Jeff Arnold and wife Mary; five grandchildren, Corey Rihn, Michael Arnold, Veronica Martin, Virginia Hollinger, Kenneth Hollinger; five great grandchildren, Kaylee Pullin, Tessa Pullin, Ayden Pullin, Tristan Arnold, Jacy Winfrey; as well as numerous friends and other family members.
Frances was preceded in death by her loving husband Neil Arnold; parents, Frank Mattas and Mary E. (Vopat) Mattas; four brothers, Louis Mattas, Frank Mattas, Henry Mattas, Emil Mattas; and two sisters, Rose Pearce and Mary Ann Erikson.
Serving as Mrs. Arnold’s pallbearers are Corey Rihn, Kenneth Hollinger, Michael Arnold, Jeff Arnold, Jeff Hollinger and Marc Clarke.
Frances was very involved in the American Heart Association and helped raise money annually. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association in Frances Arnold’s memory.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, January 19, 2020 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM; a funeral service will take place on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of SouthPark Funeral Home, 1310 N. Main St., Pearland, Texas 77581; with a burial to follow at SouthPark Cemetery.
