Eva Joyce Parnell Frost's Obituary
Joyce, the oldest daughter of Dott and Ruby Parnell and sister to three younger siblings, grew up on a farm in Cleveland, Texas, but made her home in the Houston area after arriving with $50 in her pocket that she borrowed from a feed store for her move. Early on, Joyce had a varied career. She worked at the Jesse Jones Library where she saw an advertisement for a job she accepted with Drs. Mannas, Long, and Davis for over 30 years, first as a dental assistant to Dr. Mannas for many years, and later as office manager for all three dentists. She also did a stint as a school bus driver. After retiring, Joyce embarked on her second profession when she formed her own independent company, Sign Shares, and assisted the Deaf community by providing interpreting services in the economics, medical, and legal fields. In addition, she did tv stints for various councils and commissions.
Joyce married her husband, Warren, April 17, 1959 and had three children together - Renee, Sharon, and Keith - earning the titles of Wife/Mom. She interpreted for the Deaf faithfully as a member of Braeswood Assembly of God for nearly 50 years and attended home/church Bible studies. Joyce was an associate of the Houston Genealogical Society, and an Election Judge for her precinct. She also performed at the Alley Theater in Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” as a shadow actor. She enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, and creating crafts, but mostly she relished time spent with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Dott and Ruby, brother Sonny, husband Warren, and son Keith.
Joyce leaves behind a void that we shall each try to fill in our own way with cherished memories of times we shared with her. We celebrate her life today and take comfort knowing she is now whole in the benevolent arms of her Heavenly Father, rejoicing with loved ones, and basking in His glory. We wait with anticipation and faith for the time when we are reunited and, like Joyce, able to behold Him face to face.
Joyce is survived by daughters Renee Warnock and Sharon Lebeau (Peter), daughter-in-law Katie Frost, 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, sister Jean Tobler (Charles), and brother Larry (Liz) Parnell, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousin.
