Christina Duncan, age 94, born September 29, 1914 to Josiah and Alpha Whipkey at their farm house in Flat Rock, Illinois, died August 4th in Clear Lake Hospital. Resident of Pearland (Brookside Village) for 45 years, then moved to LaPorte in 2006. Loved her fruit trees and working in her garden, still working in her yard at age 90. Was charter member of Brookside Village Civic Club, Brookside Village Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and member of the First Methodist Church of Pearland for 48 years. Proceeded in death by her husband Harold, four brothers and one sister. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family and for her love cooking and baking, especially sugar cookies for her grand and great-grand children. Survived by her son Jack Duncan & wife Mary Nell, grandchildren; Craig & wife Denise, Troy & wife Sandy, Cheri Slaughter & husband Dub; great grandchildren, Amanda McCorquodale & husband Kent, Aimee Pimentel & husband Jeremy, Duncan & Dillon Slaughter, Serena, Brady & Shelby Duncan, plus 2 1 1/2 great-great grand babies. Survived by Jack's in-law's family, Bessie, Wayne & Dale Boman & long time friend/neighbor Jean Pappe. Visitation on Sunday, August 9, 2009 from 2-4 p.m., at South Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Monday August 10, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of South Park Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Joiner officiating.
