Estelita P. Oandasan's Obituary
Estelita “Lita” Peralta Oandasan passed away at home at the age of 84 on January 21, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family.
Estelita was born on June 22, 1941, in the town of Cabaritan, in the remote province of Cagayan, Philippines. She was the only daughter of Simoun, a carpenter, and Maria, a stay-at-home mother.
She received her early education close to home in Buguey but moved away to attend pre-nursing at Far Eastern University, then on to nursing school at Ortañez School of Nursing, graduating in 1963. Estelita was blessed to have her Uncle Ruffino Limos (now deceased) fund her nursing education. She passed on this generosity by funding higher education for all her children and additional family members.
She emigrated to the United States in 1964, recruited to work in Chicago with Cook County Hospital in a 2-year pediatric program.
She married her sweetheart, Oscar Oandasan in 1966, and they were together for 59 years. Their marriage was characterized by grit, determination, tenacity, shared purpose and love. Through it all, her life was devoted to both Jesus Christ and her family.
After moving from Chicago to Lake Jackson, Texas, Estelita and Oscar built and ran a true “Family Medical Practice.” Estelita worked for over 40 years as Oscar’s nurse and office manager.
Estelita led a life full of love, generosity and self- sacrifice for her family and the
many patients for whom she cared during her years working as a nurse. When asked of her greatest accomplishment, Estelita shared “I helped many people.”
Estelita embodied self-sacrifice, generosity and genuine compassion for anyone who
crossed her path. During the last moments of her life, her concern was that her family, all surrounding her, got some rest.
She was also effortlessly glamorous and had superb taste in fashion, but her generosity often led her to offer an item of clothing or an accessory to someone who showed appreciation, even if she was currently wearing it.
A few little-known facts about Estelita: 1) she went to beauty school 2) she enjoyed growing
and selling citrus in Oscar’s Orchard 3) she was a devout Methodist, as was her husband, Oscar.
Estelita was preceded in death by her parents, Simoun and Maria Peralta, and her brother, Artemio Peralta.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dr. Oscar Oandasan and five children: Carl Oandasan, Gary Oandasan, Aileen Oandasan (husband Richard), Karen Oandasan (husband, John) and Sheila Oandasan (husband Kevin), as well as her brother, Remigio Peralta. She also leaves behind the loves of her life, her only two grandbabies, Andrew and Aaron Allen.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13th from 5-8 pm, South Park Funeral Home 1310 N Main Street, Pearland, TX 77581.
